Ibu Pertiwi

Ibu means “Mother” and Pertiwi is “Earth”. From other ancient text, Pertiwi is Gaia. In Hindu, she is also called Basundari.

Yesterday, an inspiring mood occurred when I took a glimpse over a name card lying down on my officemate’s table. The design of the name card calls my attention. It was the name card of some General Manager of luxurious boutique hotel in Bali. After peeking at the overall design, challenge runs in my veins and this stimulated me. I grab a paper and a marker pen. I copied the original outlines of the face and the crown, but I modified the face and the symbol motifs inscribed in her crown.

The symbols in the crown manifested several arche-type of plants and tree spirits. Also, inscribed are several symbols of earth, wind and fire. Water is excluded.

My only regret in this drawing is that I cannot correct the shape of her face because I’m using marker pen with solid inks. Anyway, I’m happy that I can draw not only lines and symbols, which you may refer as abstract drawings. The complexities are admirable but I wish that I can understand them fully.

Maha Ganesh

The Elephant-Headed God, son of Shiva. Maha Ganesh is protector of Truth, God of Wisdom and Power. In several purana (epic) Maha Ganesh is Destroyer of Raksasas (the evil-doing giants).

The model of Maha Ganesh is the official logo of the company I’m working for.

STORY
I have a dream, so long time ago but I vividly remember this one because it happens to have lots of elephant. It’s like in a circus; the elephants come in variety of colors, white, black and pink. The moment I walked over and passed at the elephants, they took a bow like a sign of respect.

I interpret my dream like Maha Ganesh as God of Wisdom will always protect me. The elephant bows because there is a respect between us. The God of Wisdom bows to no one except to wisdom, love and purity. I was nearly in tears because I would really like to draw in real-form and this surging feeling when I finished my drawing so careful not to add lines that will destroy the finishing effects.

Only praises to Him who provides me with this Gift. And I would like to share it with you.

Big foot! Just joking, I'm size 5.

If you happen to know palmistry (psyche or systematic reading via the lines in your hands which foretells the character, the past and future of the person), then I introduce to you the FOOT READING. But I don't know how to call it. May I ask my friend Jean to give me the honor of establishing the watchamacallit, "FOOT READING", the breakthrough in supernatural at ego age of the 21st century?

This is my foot. Do you know want to know the story behind the drawing? We usually relate the foot with traveling or journey. If our body is the vehicle for the transcendent soul, then the FOOT OR FEET must be the tires. However, I must say that we should not put lightly what's in our foot or feet because in Hindu, we believed that the right leg down to the right foot has something to do with the paternal relationship and the left leg down to the left foot is related to maternal ancestors. So any sickness and symptoms of illness from those leg parts are automatically related to the spirit of the ancestors, and one must perform the "Guru Piduka" (ritual of visiting the family shrines and ask forgiveness with appropriate "banten" - offerings) to get rid of the illness.

But my story is different.

My foot holds a thousand journeys that can only be done through astral means. In short, I' m always dreaming, baby. I'm connected, on-line with the invisible and wireless cable in my head hooked-up to heavenly commands. Do this and don't do this. If not, suffering will come; if you obey you will be given a reward. This practice becomes a habit and I feel terrorize if I don't obey.

Nevertheless, I obey because I love who created me. Well, my foot foretells a journey to heaven, and if I reach it, you will be the first one to know.

Jean Vengua's Left Hand

An honour. I hardly know the person. But she responded with ease. She sent me an outline of her hands, left and right. The next thing you know, I sent her the finished drawing. What can I say? An old soul, lost in her labyrinthe and walls too high that sometimes a person can not touch her nor see her. Multi-talented and always sensitive. Fragile, but seemingly strong. Eloquent. Jean, you're sometimes there, and sometimes nowhere. You're like a comet, rotating around the universe. Always bringing a handful of news from your journey.

Seeing more and more of the drawing, it spoke to me. Jean was once a Priest (in her previous life). A Capuchin Monk, devoted. Jean was very happy with her vocation, serving the Lord God. But the influential Archbishops during those times made her see reality that we can not trust our lives even to those in higher ranks. Believing within, reaching-out. Her soul reaches the highest note in her head and after that it's blank. The notes turn to writings. And writings became an outburst. Her hand reaches you, but she speaks her own language. Her love for the Lord became a question. And the Lord says, "One Day, I will let you see the reasons why, I created good and evil. Now, learn from it."

The Fifth Generation

What can be deciphered from the symbols in this painting? The title connotes the children or us being the fifth generation in the family. From great grandpa, grandparents, parents, me, and my son. I guess, each generation holds a truth that revolutionized the beliefs and take us back to nowhere, nothing. The Buddha's Path.

Ulundanu Temple

The temple of Ulundanu is dedicated to Dewi Sri, goddess of rice and fertility. The divine Dewi Sri is the wife of God Vishnu, the protector of the world. The spiritual place is located at the shores of Lake Beratan.

Harmony

There's no balance in the world in equal terms. The disparities in life is very much felt everywhere. The rich and the poor scenario is disgusting. Luckily, this condition is not permanent. Any able and good president always has to turn over his seat. Any tyrrant can not live more than 50 years. Based on this condition, harmony is accepting reality, mix with Utopian visions. Dream, sleep, eat, work and seek. Choose a life with deep meaning. Believe. Faith. Trust. The more you practice what you teach, the wiser you become. The Buddha's path. An individual seed can grow many wonders. Shelter many creatures. But always expose to the rain and sun. Harmony, where is the balance in you? Are you suggesting, Charity. Yeah, teach the ways and equality through spirit will emerge.

Love

The passion that kindled the spirit, the emotions that goes uncontrolled, sexuality exploration. Is it love? Touching and nurturing? Yes, it is a sign of love. Any irresponsible acts are not by love but urge to feel and experience, consummation until there's no fire left. And they always bounce back, the hurt. Love is warm not fiery. Love is not overly but wisely given. Love is not an individual thing. Love is not sex but union. Love is not marriage but blessing. Love is learning to like what you don't like, a compromise. Every children born needs love. Every men and women needs love. This world will be better, if we learn how to love.

Energi
Literally it means Energy. My knowledge of far and beyond are sustained by this energy painting. I come across with new things, new symbols and characters that are familiar with Chinese, Indian, Tamil scripts because this painting introduced me to several portal.

This is a sample of script. It meant that people around the world are influenced by its radiating sound, positively.

The spiral symbol in the hands connotes changes. It turns the person's karma from negative to positive.

Peace

I beseek you Peacemakers. Souls of my ancestors, beholder of Truth. Rise. The incantations and magic spells illustrated in my drawings, summoning the torch of Peace. Come. Ease the pain. Slowly drifted away, the vengeful spirit haunting the past, begone!

When the image appeared like the Sun Crying. I was surprised of the image and try to preserve it the way it is. My hand so eager to add few lines around its crown, almost afraid that it would lost its shape. I found out that Inca and Mayan culture has symbols like the Crying Sun or Moon. What are my connections with those culture. Perhaps, during the Spanish colonization of the Philippines, there were trading between Mexico and other Spaniard's colony. Were there Mexicans brought to the Philippines that became my ancestors?

I have drawn my hands but they are not visible. I would like to show you the appearance of the scripts outside my hands. They are my life story. My karma will appear at the time of my 38th birthday, beginning at the age of 30. I will be driven to the spiritual level, many people will ask me. I answer them, the way I make my painting. I follow not my hands moving, but my lips talking. It is myself, the higher form. Taking over my spirituality, alive.
